USU Public Relations – The University of North Sumatra (USU) is conducting data collection for prospective new students for the 2026 Academic Year who have experienced changes in their status within the National Socioeconomic Single Data System (DTSEN). This initiative follows a letter issued by the Center for Higher Education Financing and Assessment of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, Number 492/DST/F2/LP.01.01/2026 dated June 15, 2026, regarding the Notification of Additional Quota Proposals Due to Changes in Non-Eligible KIP Kuliah Status for the 2026 National Student Admissions Selection (SNPMB).

Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, and Alumni of University of North Sumatra (USU), Prof. Dr. Poppy Anjelisa Zaitun Hasibuan, S.Si., M.Si., Apt., explained that this data collection is intended for prospective students admitted through the 2026 National Selection Based on Achievement (SNBP) and National Selection Based on Test (SNBT) pathways who meet specific criteria. “This data collection is a follow-up to the government's policy regarding changes in DTSEN status. We encourage prospective students who meet the requirements to promptly confirm their data and submit the necessary documents within the specified timeline,” she stated.

Prospective USU students admitted through the 2026 SNBP and SNBT pathways may participate in this data collection if they meet the following criteria:

  • Have been declared successful in the 2026 SNBP or SNBT admission process at USU and have completed new student registration according to the applicable regulations.
  • Are registered applicants for the 2026 KIP Kuliah Program, possess an active account, and have completed the required documents on the KIP Kuliah website.
  • Have a decile status of 1 to 4 in the National Socioeconomic Single Data System (DTSEN), synchronized with their KIP Kuliah account.

Eligible prospective students are encouraged to immediately confirm their information and submit the required supporting documents. The process includes:

  • Completing online data confirmation through the university-provided link.
  • Uploading supporting documents, including:
    • 2026 KIP Kuliah Participant Card;
    • Proof of DTSEN decile status from the KIP Kuliah system account.
  • Submitting all required documents no later than June 25, 2026, at 11:59 PM WIB.
  • All submissions must be completed online; physical (hardcopy) submissions will not be accepted.

Prof. Poppy emphasized that the collected data will serve as the basis for proposing an additional quota of prospective 2026 KIP Kuliah recipients to the Center for Higher Education Financing and Assessment of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology. However, the final determination of KIP Kuliah recipients remains under the authority of the Ministry. “We would like to emphasize that this data collection is part of the process of proposing an additional quota for prospective KIP Kuliah recipients. The final determination and decision regarding KIP Kuliah recipients remain entirely under the authority of the Center for Higher Education Financing and Assessment of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology,” she explained." She said.

Through this initiative, USU reaffirms its commitment to supporting inclusive and equitable access to higher education for students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds while ensuring that the KIP Kuliah administrative process is carried out in accordance with applicable regulations.
