Fostering Critical Thinking, Constructing Change with the Faculty of Social Sciences and Political Science

Assalamualaikum Wr. Wb., Salam Sejahtera, Om Swastiastu, Namo Budaya Salam Kebajikan The Faculty of Social Science and Political Sciences is the ninth faculty at the Universitas Sumatera Utara. Established in 1980, FISIP USU has produced many alumni who not only have careers in industry, but are also able to take part at the national and international levels. To achieve the goals of higher education in accordance with the mandate of the Law and the higher education system in Indonesia, FISIP USU has made various efforts to adapt by improving facilities and infrastructure, preparing the OBE curriculum, and active participation in the MBKM Program. In order to realize the mandate of national education, FISIP USU has compiled 6 focuses for the future work of FISIP USU, namely 1) Achievement of Main Performance Targets (IKU), 2) Increasing Study Program Accreditation, 3) Strengthening the Learning Process through Integration of Research, PKM in MBKM, 4) Infrastructure Arrangement, 5) World Class University (WCU) which is realized through curriculum internationalization, WCP, Conference, and Networking, 6) Research, PKM, Publication and Cooperation for USU-FISIP Enterprise. Currently, all undergraduate programs at FISIP USU have received A accreditation from BAN-PT, some of which have even received Superior Accreditation, such as the Communication Science Study Program, Sociology Study Program, and Anthropology Study Program. All master study programs have been accredited B, and 1 study program, namely the Master of Communication Studies Program, has been accredited Superior. Until 2025, FISIP USU will prioritize several activities that support international pilot efforts, namely modification of the learning process to improve the quality of education through the preparation of a global standard curriculum, and efforts to build character and improve the achievements of lecturers and students carried out through the development of research-based learning integration and PKM. To realize this, FISIP USU continues to improve the quality of the curriculum, classrooms, courses, and learning methods. All these efforts are certainly not easy. However, FISIP USU believes that efforts accompanied by good intentions will produce good results in the future. To realize this, FISIP USU expects the support of all parties, ranging from students, educators, education personnel, alumni, to graduate users to provide constructive input.
