FISIP USU once again demonstrates its academic contribution to the nation through the launch of a book entitled Communication Management Model for Reconstructing the Image of the Indonesian National Police, authored by Dr. Eddy Iriawan. Published by CV Angkasa Media Literasi, the book is based on his doctoral dissertation in Communication Science at FISIP USU, which he completed with cum laude honors in June 2026. The dissertation's promoter, Prof. Dr. Iskandar Zulkarnain, praised the publication as a demonstration of the commitment to ensuring that academic research does not remain confined to university libraries but instead delivers practical benefits to the wider community and the communication management of state institutions.

In the book, Dr. Eddy Iriawan formulates the PRISM model (Participation, Responsiveness, Integrity, Synergy, and Monitoring) as a strategic communication management framework to restore public trust in Polri in the digital era. This approach is designed to respond systematically to the rapid flow of information and hashtag-driven pressures on social media, with coordinated implementation from the National Police Headquarters down to the sector police level and supported by data. The author also emphasizes the importance of tangible improvements in public services, noting that research indicates 66.2 percent of the institution's negative image is influenced by citizens' personal negative experiences when dealing with police officers.

This innovative idea has also received a written endorsement and high appreciation from General of Police Listyo Sigit Prabowo. According to him, the PRISM framework is highly relevant to Polri's transformation needs in responding to the increasingly open dynamics of the public sphere. The book is expected to serve as a strategic reference for public relations practitioners and academics in realizing adaptive, transparent, accountable, and humane communication governance within public institutions.
