Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) officially inaugurated the deans of faculties, the director of the Graduate School, vice deans, and vice directors of the Graduate School for the 2026–2030 term on Monday, May 4, 2026, at the USU Student Center. The inauguration ceremony was led directly by the Rector of Universitas Sumatera Utara, Prof. Dr. Muryanto Amin, S.Sos., M.Si., as part of the university’s leadership succession process.

On this occasion, Dr. Hatta Ridho, S.Sos., MSP was officially inaugurated as Dean of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) USU for the 2026–2030 term. Also inaugurated were the Vice Deans of FISIP USU: Dr. Agus Suriadi, S.Sos., M.Si. as Vice Dean I; Dr. Emilia Ramadhani, S.Sos., M.A. as Vice Dean II; and Moulita, S.Sos., M.A. as Vice Dean III. The inauguration marks an important milestone for FISIP USU in continuing its development, particularly in the areas of academic excellence, internationalization, human resource development, and the strengthening of strategic partnerships.

In his remarks following the inauguration, Dean Dr. Hatta Ridho stated that the faculty’s leadership over the next five years will focus on enhancing FISIP USU’s competitiveness at both the national and international levels. According to him, several priority programs have been prepared to support the vision of making FISIP USU more distinguished and responsive to global developments.

He explained that all deans within USU will implement performance contracts derived from university and ministerial targets. One of FISIP USU’s primary priorities is strengthening internationalization through increased publication in internationally reputable journals, innovation in teaching and learning, and the expansion of international collaborations.

"We are embracing the theme ‘Beyond Excellence.’ This means not only maintaining our existing achievements, but also ensuring that FISIP USU surpasses them," he stated.

Dr. Hatta Ridho further explained that FISIP USU aims to increase the number of international publications indexed by Scopus and other reputable journals. In addition, the faculty will promote the development of Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) as part of its digital education innovation strategy, enabling broader public access to learning opportunities.

Beyond academic development, FISIP USU also seeks to improve the quality of its human resources. Increasing the number of lecturers holding doctoral degrees, associate professorships, and full professorships is considered a key step in strengthening educational quality and supporting the future development of new academic programs.

In the field of internationalization, FISIP USU plans to develop joint degree and double degree programs in collaboration with overseas universities. Furthermore, the existing international classes will continue to be expanded into an International Undergraduate Program, creating greater opportunities for international students to pursue their studies at FISIP USU.

Meanwhile, Vice Dean II, Dr. Emilia Ramadhani, emphasized that enhancing digitally based learning facilities will be one of the faculty’s main priorities in supporting students’ academic experiences. According to her, digital transformation has become an essential requirement in today’s modern learning environment.

"Going forward, we will improve digital learning facilities so that students can continue learning with lecturers from anywhere," she explained.

In the areas of student affairs, partnerships, community engagement, and internationalization, Vice Dean III, Moulita, S.Sos., M.A., stated that increasing lecturers’ publications, strengthening collaborative networks, and expanding community service initiatives at both national and international levels will form part of the new deanery’s strategic agenda. She also emphasized the importance of building broader partnerships with institutions and organizations both domestically and internationally to enhance the quality of the university’s tridharma missions—education, research, and community service.

With the inauguration of the new deanery for the 2026–2030 term, FISIP USU is expected to further strengthen its position as one of the leading faculties at Universitas Sumatera Utara. The new leadership is also expected to make FISIP USU increasingly competitive, innovative, and actively engaged in advancing higher education at both the national and global levels.
