Undergraduate Program in Social Welfare Science

First opened in 1986 and accredited A, the Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) Undergraduate Program in Social Welfare Science provides education and teaching on social welfare issues and efforts to manage social welfare problems around the community.

Supported by competent and insightful teaching staff, students are honed to have the ability to apply social work theories and techniques and produce creative academic writing in the field of social welfare science. Graduates of the Undergraduate Program in Social Welfare Science have broad job prospects in social welfare as social researchers, teaching staff, and social entrepreneurs in various agencies such as the Ministry of Social Affairs, social services, and community institutions.

History

1986

The Social Welfare Study Program was first opened in 1986 from the results of the choice of students who took the VII semester, when FISIP-USU was led by Prof. Drs. M. Adham Nasution. The first time it was named the Department of Social Welfare Science and later changed to the Department of Social Welfare Science. The opening of the Department of Social Welfare Science refers to the Decree of the Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia Number 0535/0/83 concerning the type and number of departments in the faculties within the Universitas Sumatera Utara.
