The Undergraduate Program in Communication Science, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FISIP USU), held a Guest Lecture entitled "Documentaries in Narrative Battles." The event, held at the Theater of FISIP USU, featured Ari Trismana, Director of Watchdoc Documentary, as the main speaker. The presence of a figure with expertise in documentary filmmaking was met with great enthusiasm by the students, who attended to explore the strategic role of documentary films in public discourse and the formation of public opinion.
The activity, held on September 24, 2026, provided a comprehensive understanding of the function of documentary films, not merely as a medium for documenting events, but also as a crucial instrument in social narrative battles. Through an interactive presentation, the speaker shared factual experiences and investigative methodologies behind the production of critical documentary works.
