On September 15, 2026, students of the Undergraduate Program in Communication Studies, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FISIP USU), conducted a field study at the TVRI North Sumatra station in Medan. This academic activity was designed to broaden students' practical insights into the dynamics of the public broadcasting industry and the direct application of communication theories. During the visit, the students had the opportunity to observe the broadcasting production workflow, from the news editorial process and management of the main control room to the technical aspects of filming in the main studio.

In addition to learning about daily operations, the participants received guidance from TVRI North Sumatra practitioners regarding the challenges faced by the broadcasting media industry in the era of digital transformation. The discussion provided in-depth insights into the application of journalistic ethical standards, strategies for presenting educational content, and the adaptation of public media to reach modern audiences. This visit demonstrated FISIP USU's commitment to implementing practice-based learning to produce competent graduates who are ready to pursue careers in the national media industry.
