Medan, September 3, 2026 — The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FISIP USU), welcomed student exchange participants as part of the Outcome-Based Education–Kampus Berdampak initiative from the Islamic Community Development Study Program, Faculty of Da’wah and Communication, Universitas Islam Negeri Sumatera Utara (UINSU). The UINSU delegation was represented by the Vice Dean of the Faculty of Da’wah and Communication, Vice Dean II for Finance, Facilities and Infrastructure, and Human Resources, Dr. Elvianti Ritonga, M.A.; Head of the Islamic Community Development Study Program, Dr. Khotibah, M.A.; and Secretary of the Study Program, Dr. Ilham Mirzaya Putra, M.Si.
A total of 36 students participated in the student exchange from the Islamic Community Development Study Program, Faculty of Da’wah and Communication, Universitas Islam Negeri Sumatera Utara, to the Social Welfare Study Program, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Sumatera Utara. The fifth-semester students enrolled in the Introduction to Social Welfare and Social Work course at the Social Welfare Study Program, FISIP USU. They were welcomed by the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, and Alumni (Vice Dean I) of FISIP USU, Dr. Agus Suriadi, S.Sos., M.Si.; Head of the Social Welfare Study Program, Fajar Utama Ritonga, S.Sos., M.Kesos.; and Secretary of the Social Welfare Study Program, Mia Aulina Lubis, S.Sos., M.Kesos.
This student exchange program has been running for four years. During this period, students from the Islamic Community Development Study Program have spent one semester studying at the Social Welfare Study Program, FISIP USU. Popular courses selected by exchange students include Community Organization and Community Development, Human Behavior and Social Change, and International Social Work.
In addition to learning activities, the implementation of the agreement between the Social Welfare Study Program, FISIP USU, and the Islamic Community Development Study Program, Faculty of Da’wah and Communication, UINSU, extends beyond student exchange. The collaboration also encompasses the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, particularly collaborative research and community service involving faculty members from both study programs. Going forward, the partnership will be further strengthened through joint publications in international journals indexed by Scopus.
