The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FISIP USU), held a Yudisium ceremony for students. The ceremony, which took place on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, in the theater room of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Sumatera Utara, was attended by faculty members and 43 students who participated in the event. This Yudisium was conducted for students of the 2022/2023 academic year, 4th cohort.
The event proceeded solemnly and smoothly. The Secretary of the Political Science Department, Mr. Adil Arifin, S.Sos., MA, reminded graduating students to uphold discipline and intellectual intelligence. He emphasized that intellectual excellence is reflected in a high GPA, critical thinking, and practical application. Graduates should be prepared to apply their knowledge in society and the workplace.
Yudisium is an essential milestone in a student's academic journey, marking the completion of their studies. However, graduation is not the end but the beginning of new challenges in society and professional life. This event is an annual agenda for various faculties, including FISIP USU, for the 2022/2023 academic year. With careful planning by the organizing team, the ceremony was conducted solemnly, successfully, and smoothly.
It is important to note that a quality graduate is one with a high GPA and one who possesses strong character to contribute to a positive environment in any professional setting.
In his speech, the Dean of FISIP USU, Dr. Hatta Ridho, S.Sos., MSP, congratulated all graduates for their hard work and dedication in completing their studies at Universitas Sumatera Utara. He encouraged them to remain motivated and make good use of the knowledge they have acquired to contribute to society and the advancement of Indonesia. As an alumnus, he urged them to uphold the good name of USU and always adhere to ethical values in all professional and social activities.
He further emphasized that GPA is not the sole determinant of success—soft skills and effective communication are the key factors in achieving success. He hopes that FISIP USU graduates will be competent individuals with academic readiness, strong communication skills, social intelligence, and adaptability in life and the workplace.
Following the Dean’s speech, the event continued with a motivational session by Dr. Indra Kesuma Nasution, S.IP., M.Si., Ph.D., a Political Science lecturer, who encouraged and insights to the graduating students of the Political Science Program for the 2022/2023 academic year, 4th cohort.
The event concluded with a closing session and a group photo session, marking the successful completion of the Yudisium ceremony.
