Medan, July 17, 2024, the Postgraduate Program in Development Studies of FISIP USU held a public lecture entitled “Sharing Experiences of Successful Practices / Best Practices Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) of Mining Corporations in Indonesia” at the FISIP USU Hall. This public lecture invited the President Director of PT Bukit Makmur Mandiri Utama (Buma), Ir. Indra Kanoena, MM. as the speaker. Indra Kanoena, MM. is a practitioner with about 27 years of experience in organizational management, human resources, and government and community relations.


The event began with remarks from the Dean of FISIP USU, Dr. Hatta Ridho, MSP, who expressed his gratitude for Ir. Indra Kanoena, MM.'s willingness to give a public lecture. Furthermore, he hopes that FISIP USU will establish cooperation with PT Buma in the future. 


In his lecture, Ir. Indra Kanoena, MM. Shared PT Buma's efforts in empowering communities through its CSR programs. Four areas are the focus of PT Buma's CSR, namely education and health, economic development, infrastructure, and socio-cultural. “CSR is not a license to operate, but a social innovation whose orientation is to impact the community,” he said.

This activity was attended by various participants, ranging from the Rector of Universitas HKBP Nommensen, Vice Dean III FISIP USU, the Head of the Development Studies Study Program FISIP USU, the Editor-in-Chief of Tribun Medan, students in various study programs at FISIP USU, and other campuses from Medan City.
