The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences of the Universitas Sumatera Utara held a Political Dialogue on Friday, March 1, 2024. This activity was attended by the SUMUT Police Chief, a Representative of the Bukit Barisan Commander, Representatives of DPD / DPW Political Parties, various Election Monitoring Institutions, and Students.
This activity highlighted several issues, including the problem of Money Politics and security during the election. According to the North Sumatra Police Chief, Inspector General Agung Setya Imam Effendi, the 2024 Election went well overall. The Dean of FISIP USU, Dr. Hatta Ridho, S.Sos., MSP, also added that if there are parties who feel objections, they can resolve them constitutionally.
This post-election political dialogue is expected to reduce tensions and provide a common understanding between different parties because elections are often perceived as raising controversial and sensitive issues. The dialogue also allows various parties, including academics, political parties, election activists, observers, and civil society, to exchange ideas, views, and experiences.
