Students of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), Universitas Sumatera Utara, once again achieved an outstanding accomplishment on the international stage. Juan Putra Hamdani Daulay from the Undergraduate Program in Communication Studies, together with Muhammad Syarif Al Fawwaz from the Undergraduate Program in Social Welfare, successfully helped the football team secure Second Place at the 25th Indonesia, Malaysia, & Thailand Growth Triangle (IMT-GT) Varsity Carnival 2026. This prestigious achievement demonstrates the quality of young talent at FISIP USU, who are capable of competing and demonstrating outstanding athletic performance at the Southeast Asian regional level.

This cross-country student competition serves as a strategic platform for strengthening cooperation, sportsmanship, as well as cultural and sports diplomacy among higher education institutions in the IMT-GT subregion. The success of Juan Putra and Muhammad Syarif in contributing a silver medal not only brings pride to FISIP but also further strengthens the reputation of Universitas Sumatera Utara on the international stage. This achievement is expected to inspire the entire academic community to continue pursuing excellence in both academic and non-academic fields.
