The Medan City Government, through the Regional Secretariat, successfully held a Seminar on the Results of the Study on Social Issues in the Community on Wednesday, July 29, 2026. Held at the Hall of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FISIP USU), the event was organized as part of the Research and Development Activity in the Social and Population Sector, Sub-Activity of Research and Development in Social Aspects, in collaboration with FISIP USU for the 2026 Fiscal Year. The seminar was attended by leaders of Regional Apparatus Organizations and agencies within Medan City, who actively followed the presentation of the study findings.

The event addressed the strategic topic “A Socio-Economic Approach to the Double Burden of Development: A Study of the Correlation between Drug Abuse, Crime Rates, Health Deficits, and Poverty in Medan City.” Through the discussion, the seminar aimed to provide an in-depth understanding and formulate data-driven policy recommendations concerning the social impacts of drug abuse in Medan City. Concluded with an interactive discussion session, the event served as a platform for inter-agency collaboration in addressing regional social issues.
