The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FISIP USU), in collaboration with the BPJS Ketenagakerjaan Medan Kota Branch Office, organized the BPJS Ketenagakerjaan Goes to Campus program under the theme "Social Security Protection for Today's Workforce" on Tuesday, June 23, at the FISIP USU Hall. The event was attended by FISIP USU students as part of an initiative to enhance their understanding of the importance of social security protection in the workplace.

The program featured the Head of the BPJS Ketenagakerjaan Medan Kota Branch Office, Jefri Iswanto, S.Sos., M.Si., as the keynote speaker. Also in attendance were the Dean of FISIP USU, Dr. Hatta Ridho, S.Sos., MSP., and the Vice Dean for Research, Community Service, Cooperation, and Information, Moulita, S.Sos., M.A., demonstrating the Faculty's commitment to strengthening students' literacy on employment social security.

Through the program, students gained a comprehensive understanding of the role of BPJS Ketenagakerjaan in providing social protection for workers, including salaried employees, self-employed workers, and those employed in the construction services sector. In addition to discussing the legal framework and regulations governing Indonesia's employment social security system, the session also introduced the various protection programs available to participants.

During his presentation, Jefri Iswanto provided an overview of the employment protection schemes offered by BPJS Ketenagakerjaan. The session covered Work Accident Insurance (JKK), Death Benefit (JKM), Old-Age Security (JHT), Pension Security (JP), and Job Loss Insurance (JKP), including their benefits, membership requirements, and claim procedures. Students also learned about additional benefits available to BPJS Ketenagakerjaan participants, including educational scholarship programs for participants' children in accordance with applicable regulations.

Beyond explaining the benefits of social protection, the program emphasized the importance of raising awareness among young people about employment and social security from an early stage. As the labor market continues to evolve, social protection plays a vital role in providing workers with financial security while supporting their long-term well-being and future stability.

Through the BPJS Ketenagakerjaan Goes to Campus program, FISIP USU continues to promote students' understanding of social and employment-related issues that are increasingly relevant to society. The initiative is expected to broaden students' perspectives while preparing them to enter the workforce with a better understanding of the importance of employment, social security, and worker protection.
