The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FISIP USU), held an Academic Writing: Discussion and Book Review of Pekerjaan Sosial di Media Digital (Social Work in Digital Media) on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at FISIP USU.
The book Pekerjaan Sosial di Media Digital is authored by Oman Sukmana, Husni Thamrin, and Agus Suriadi and explores issues and developments in social work within the context of digital transformation.
The event was attended by alumni of the Social Welfare Study Program, as well as academics. It provided an academic forum for discussion, exchange of ideas, and the enrichment of perspectives on the development of social work practices amid rapid technological and digital media changes.
Through the discussion and book review, participants were invited to explore various challenges and opportunities emerging in social work practice in the digital era, while also promoting a stronger academic tradition and culture of literacy within higher education.
The event is expected to serve as a platform for academics and alumni to continue fostering scholarly dialogue, broadening their perspectives, and developing critical and innovative approaches to addressing the dynamics of social work in the era of digital transformation.
